20th September, London: ReedPop has today announced an official Almost Pro Street Fighter™ 6 tournament at EGX 2023. Taking place 12–15 October at ExCel London, EGX is the UK’s biggest video game fan convention, where gamers from across the world come together under one roof.
This is the first time since the pandemic that EGX will be hosting a major esports tournament, and through collaboration with Capcom, a prize pool of £5,000 will be up for grabs.
The tournament will be held from Friday 12pm until Saturday 4pm BST, giving any eager competitors ample opportunity to sharpen their skills and show everyone that they are the best fighter at EGX!
The tournament will be livestreamed on the EGX Arena Twitch channel, allowing fans to join in on the excitement, share their highlights and become a part of the EGX community no matter where they are in the world.
The iconic Street Fighter series has been a household name for more than 30 years, with the recently released sixth instalment delighting fans around the world with the return of iconic names including Chun-Li, Ken and Ryu, as well as new fighters such as Kimberly, JP and Manon.
In early July, a month after Street Fighter 6’s launch, Capcom announced that the game had sold over 2 million copies, cementing the title as another huge success in the series.
EGX 2023 will offer players the chance to play the latest games, attend fascinating panels, talks and sessions from the industry’s top creative minds and discover dazzling indie gems in the Rezzed Zone and The Leftfield Collection.
Fans will also be able to visit the GI Academy for career advice from industry experts, and watch or take part in the returning EGX Cosplay Championship and various esports tournaments taking place over the four days.
Among the many talks and panels set to take place, the now-annual Sea of Thieves panel will see developers and fans converging to celebrate and discuss Rare’s hugely popular swashbuckling action-adventure game.
