ESL, Red Bull, Alienware, Overclockers and More Partner for the Most Exciting MCM Comic Con Esports Event Yet
The ESL Arena for MCM Comic Con reaches new heights with the ESL UK Premiership Finals for three games: Counter Strike: Global Offensive, League Of Legends and Overwatch, as well as the Yogscast Comic Conathon and the South Regional Finals for the Red Bull 5G esports tournament!
Leicester, 12th October – The ESL UK Premiership Arena will take centre stage this London MCM Comic Con, located in the heart of South 6! The UK and Irelands flagship professional tournament will play out it’s finals in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends and the competition’s newest title, Overwatch. With three days of action over three games, the ESL UK Premiership playoffs at Comic-Con form one of the highlights of the annual UK esports season. The only question is – which teams will take home the trophy?
On the Red Bull stage: Inspired by traditional 5 vs 5 martial arts tournaments, the classic rivalry between East and West, and a growing culture of competitive gaming, Red Bull 5G was created in Japan in 2012. With the growing eSports scene and the classic North/South divide in the UK, Red Bull 5G ignites an age old rivalry as players represent their region in one of five world renowned games.
Over the course of the last two months thousands of players across the country have competed to represent the ‘North’ or ‘South’ at the National Finals across five games – Street Fighter V, League Of Legends, Project Cars, Rocket League and Hearthstone. London MCM Comic-Con will host the southern Regional Final where players earn themselves a place on team south and compete at the National Finals in November.
Friday and Saturday will feature some wildcard qualifiers where the people of MCM Comic-con can sign up to compete and win a place in the Regional final on Sunday. For gear heads, both Overclockers and Alienware will be here in force showing off their latest and greatest in gaming hardware. Overclockers will present an area to compete and gain hands-on time with the latest tech and custom PC hardware, as well as a gaming peripherals sales center for those looking to purchase upgrades of their own. At the Alienware exhibition - a living room chill out zone where you can relax with games on the Alienware Alpha - you’ll find an immersive, mixed-reality VR experience powered by the Alienware Aurora and the HTC Vive. Above and beyond that, Alienware gaming stations will be showing a variety of the latest games on a range of Alienware devices. To top it all there’s a brand new Alienware Aurora and exclusive Alienware 20-year anniversary goodie bags up for grabs in competitions over the weekend.
With a horde of famous faces new and old, competitions, prizes and more entertainment than ever, ESL UK, MCM Comic Con and all the partners involved are ready to take the UK’s biggest pop culture festival to a whole new level.
