ESL UK AND UBISOFT® TO HOST FIRST RAINBOW SIX SIEGE ESL PREMIERSHIP FINALS

Finals to take place 10-11 March in Leicester, played on Xbox One

(London, UK) 5 March, 2018 - ESL UK and Ubisoft® are to host the very first Rainbow Six Siege ESL Premiership finals on 10-11 March. The finals will take place in ESL UK’s Studio 1 facility in Leicester, and will be broadcast live on Twitch to audiences around the world. Tickets to attend Studio 1 are available at esl.pm/siegefinals.

The Rainbow Six Siege ESL Premiership is the first time that ESL UK and Ubisoft® have partnered on an esports league, and the first time that the ESL Premiership has run a season on console. The partnership is part of a wider initiative by ESL UK to bring more diverse esports competitions, across different platforms, to the UK esports scene.

The final group stage of the premiership took place on 26 February, with four teams battling it out on Saturday 10 March for a spot in the grand finals. The final two teams will go head-to-head on Sunday 11 March, with a prize pool of £10,500 up for grabs. The teams competing in Saturday’s matches are 1UpEsport, Team Enyx, Xenos.gg and Horizon Union.

The Rainbow Six Siege ESL Premiership kicked off on 15 January, with eight qualifying teams playing in group matches that were streamed every Monday. Four of the eight teams were selected through an open online one-day qualifier held in December, with the other four selected from the ESL GO4 cup series. The Premiership was announced following the first UK Rainbow Six Siege Invitational at EGX 2017.

“We’ve brought a brand-new game to the UK’s biggest esports league, and the fans have been incredible,” said James Dean, UK managing director at ESL. “Running a premiership on Xbox One is an important milestone for us, too, as console based esports is a big part of the UK grassroots scene. It presents a fantastic opportunity for more UK players to go pro and superb esports viewing!”

“The ESL Premiership Finals on 10th and 11th March should make for a thrilling competition,” said Chris Place, Ubisoft UK Group Marketing Manager. “This is just the start of our local plans to develop and grow the Rainbow Six Siege esports scene in the UK and is a great opportunity for players to really make their mark.”

About Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege

Inspired by real-world counter-terrorist organizations, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege puts players in the middle of lethal close-quarter confrontations. For the first time in a Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six game, players will engage in sieges, a new style of assault where enemies have the means to transform their environments into modern strongholds while Rainbow Six teams lead the assault to breach the enemy’s position. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege gives players unprecedented control over their ability to fortify their position by reinforcing walls and floors, using barbed wire and deployable shields, laying mines and more, or to breach the enemies’ position using observation drones, setting charges, rappelling and more. The fast pace and uniqueness of each siege sets a new bar for intense firefights, strategic gameplay and competitive gaming.
