ESL UK Premiership Hearthstone Finals Takes Place at MCM London Comic-Con 28 & 29 May
The first and only Competitive Hearthstone Tournament focused exclusively on UK talent
Friday 27 May: The finals of the inaugural ESL UK’s Premiership Hearthstone will take place at MCM London Comic Con on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May.
Hearthstone is a brand new addition for 2016 to the ESL UK Premiership which has been running for the last two years. The ESL UK Premiership is dedicated exclusively to focus on and uncover UK eSports talent as all competitors must be residents of the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland, making it the only tournament of its kind dedicated to UK grass roots competitive pay for Hearthstone.
“The ESL UK Premiership has proved itself again as an opportunity for UK players to compete against other UK players, in regular weekly broadcasts featuring UK talent,” commented Spike Laurie, UK co-Managing Director at ESL. “That means a growing UK scene and it’s our core tenant at ESL UK. This weekend’s event is the culmination of months of the highest level of UK competitive play, we’re very glad we’re able to exhibit it live on stage, in London and to the hundreds of thousands of people who will tune in online.”
ESL held open qualifiers over an eight week period, whittling the competition down to four players playing in this year’s final. The total prize pool for the tournament equals £6,400 with the winner taking home £2,500.
“The interest in the addition of Hearthstone to the ESL UK Premiership has been incredible,” added James Dean, UK co-Managing Director at ESL. “The growing audience figures and level of play in its first season has been superb, and we’re extremely excited to see Hearthstone become a regular fixture in the ESL UK Premiership roster.”
Those attending MCM London Comic Con can visit the ESL stand (Esports Arena, South 6) over the three days with the semi-finals and finals taking place at 12pm respectively on each day.
For those not able to attend the event, all the action will be streamed on twitch.tv/esl_hearthstone
