Sumo Warrington Announces New Hires
19 May 2020, Warrington, UK | Sumo Digital, part of Sumo Group PLC and 2019 TIGA Best Independent Studio award winning video game developer, has today announced the arrival of four talented new additions to its latest studio, Sumo Warrington as part of their ongoing recruitment campaign.
Phil Lewin has been appointed as a Technical Director, Wayne Hackney and Jon Philpot join as Senior Programmers and Patrick O’Halloran has been hired as an Experienced Programmer.
“The exciting and challenging projects that we’re working on demand the best minds in the business,” said Studio Director Scott Kirkland.
“These hires demonstrate that Sumo Warrington is rapidly becoming a centre of technical excellence, benefitting our development partners AND providing a rewarding learning environment for tech savvy candidates.”
Phil Lewin joins with more than 25 years’ experience having worked with Electronic Arts and Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe on titles including LittleBigPlanet 3, Until Dawn and Rigs.
Wayne Hackney has spent over a decade in the games industry, including eight years at Sony Evolution Studios where he contributed to technical showcases MotorStorm: Apocalypse, Driveclub and Driveclub VR. More recently he has held senior positions at Codemasters Evo and Slightly Mad Studios.
Jon Philpot started his career at Codemasters, where he worked on critically acclaimed racers GRID 2 and DiRT Rally before moving to Frontier Developments to support the Jurassic World Evolution and Planet Zoo teams.
Whilst at Traveller’s Tales, Patrick O’Halloran laid technical foundations for top Lego titles DC Super Villains and the upcoming Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Announced in October 2019, Sumo Warrington is Sumo Digital’s seventh UK and eighth global studio. The studio is focussed on the sustainable delivery of high-end, multi-platform, programming and technical problem-solving services to prestigious clients.
Sumo Warrington is currently hiring for a number of tech-biased roles at senior, experienced and graduate levels. Further details can be found here.
