Press release -
Submissions for Develop:Brighton 2024 Indie Showcase Competition Now Open
Tuesday 16 April: The Develop:Brighton Indie Showcase competition, sponsored by Team Junkfish, returns in 2024 to find the industry’s brightest unsigned indie games, with submissions now open. Developers can submit their entries until 10 May 2024 at https://www.developconference.com/whats-on/indie-showcase.
The Indie Showcase is free to all indie game makers to enter and is a fantastic opportunity for rising indie developers to showcase their latest projects at Develop:Brighton 2024, which takes place this summer at the DoubleTree by Hilton Brighton Metropole from Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 July.
Submissions will be examined and shortlisted by a panel of industry experts, selecting ten finalists. These finalists will then bring their games to the Develop:Brighton expo on Wednesday 10 July and Thursday 11 July showcasing to around 5,000 delegates. These range from press and creators to developers and publishers.
Two winners will be announced as part of the final session of the final day of the conference. The Overall Winner will be voted on by a panel of judges, while the People’s Choice award will be decided by attendees voting on the show floor.
Finalists will receive a complimentary three-day pass to Develop:Brighton 2024, pre-event publicity, and a profile on the Develop:Brighton website.
“Each time we make our way down to the south coast for Develop:Brighton, I’m stunned by the level of quality and creativity on show across the fantastic entries we receive,” said Indie Showcase panel chair Alistair Aitcheson. “I can’t wait to dive into them all and meet the talented developers that work on them.
“This year we're focusing on innovation and originality, to help the most exciting new projects find the connections that will help them thrive. The Indie Showcase really is a wonderful opportunity to get unsigned games in front of press, publishers, and potential partners.”
Last year the Overall Winner was Noun Town:VR Language Learning by realiaXR, and the People’s Choice prize was presented to Donjon Fauna by Bang Technologies.
“Develop:Brighton was Donjon Fauna’s first encounter with real players so it’s amazing that it won the Indie Showcase People’s Choice award as we hadn’t decided to apply until the final hour of the deadline” stated Bang Ming Yong, of Bang Technologies.
“We wondered if our game stood a chance to even be shortlisted. We hadn’t imagined it would win. I am glad that we applied and would urge other indie developers to do the same.”
Previous Indie Showcase finalists include Paper Trail by Newfangled Games, The Tale of Bistun by Black Cube Games, You Suck at Parking by Happy Volcano, Sunless Sea by Failbetter Games, and Heaven’s Vault by inkle.
The deadline for entries is 10 May 2024 and full entry details can be found here: https://www.developconference.com/whats-on/indie-showcase
