Tandem Events Announces INTERIOR/NIGHT's Caroline Marchal as First Develop:Brighton 2024 Keynote
Tuesday 9 April: Caroline Marchal, Founder and Creative Director of INTERIOR/NIGHT - the studio behind the critically acclaimed interactive multiplayer drama As Dusk Falls - has been announced today as the first keynote speaker for Develop:Brighton 2024 by organisers Tandem Events.
An industry veteran of over 20 years, Caroline is a games designer who has worked with both Quantic Dream and Sony’s London Studio, before founding INTERIOR/NIGHT in 2016.
Caroline will deliver a keynote on how the studio approaches game development for multiplayer interactive narrative experiences – titled Crafting Multiplayer Story-centric Experiences: What Makes INTERIOR/NIGHT Tick. The keynote will also cover how the studio designs and writes with empathy to generate empathy in turn.
INTERIOR/NIGHT’s first game, As Dusk Falls, released in July 2022 to critical acclaim and went on to be nominated a BAFTA for Debut Game, and won several awards including Games for Impact at The Game Awards.
“I'm honoured to talk at Develop:Brighton this year, a true pillar of the UK video games scene,” said Marchal. “Year after year, it's always been super energising to meet fellow developers from all over Europe and to listen to them talk about their craft.”
The first round of conference speakers for Develop:Brighton 2024 was announced last month across ten tracks: Art, Audio, Business, Coding, Design, Discoverability, Indie Bootcamp, Keynotes, Mobile and Roundtables.
Develop:Brighton 2023 had record attendance, with almost 5000 attendees at the seaside conference.
“We’re thrilled to be welcoming Caroline Marchal and INTERIOR/NIGHT to deliver a keynote for the conference this year,” said Tandem Events Managing Director Andy Lane. “We have even more speakers and panels to announce, so this is just the start of more exciting announcements.
“We're excited to be back in Brighton this summer for another week of sharing, learning and networking, and can’t wait to see everyone there!”
